Was at an antique store today and came across this. It was too strange to pass up (thought it would fit in right along the dancing coke cans) and less than 10 bucks so I had to get it. Thing talks when you push a button on the bottom of the sprite can and laughs and says something about "I like the sprite in you". Does anyone know exactly what this guy was or were it came from? Was he at one time something coke used in an ad for sprite or just some random thing that someone decided to sell?

The expressions "ly'mon" and "ly'mon taste"  was used by Sprite during the 80's, and maybe into early 90's, IIRC.

Here's an old commercial evocative of your find. It sounds like an 80's commercial to me, but it can be hard to tell.

This video seems to suggest it might be from 1990, but I have no idea if that's correct.

There are a couple on eBay as well. I know it's not much, but I hope it will be helpful.

Cool little guy  smile

Question though... how are you able to post such a large picture on here?  Every time I do the file is too large for this site.

As far as file size goes, the pictures are hosted remotely, I'm guessing facebook from the URL, and linked to display here with the [-img-] tag.

NOTE: I placed those dashes there so the thread wouldn't attempt to read it as a literal image tag. The code actually looks like this.

Code:

I love the fine print at the bottom.

If you are using Netscape Gold for Windows 95, Netscape 3.0 for Mac, Netscape 2.0 for Unix, or any JAVA enabled browser, you can listen to Lucky talk when this page loads. On most browsers it should replay when you re-select this item from the Exhibit view, otherwise, "reload frame" from the View menu.

Ironically, I didn't here Lucky talk when the page loaded. I guess my browser isn't new enough.  biggrin

That page has been on the web for a LONG time, almost as long as there's been a web.

Yup that's exactly what I have been doing for pictures. Honestly never really have any luck resizing them for posting so that method works great for me.
