Machine Hauling

Just a post for a little entertainment...what's everybody hauling their machines home with these days?  I think I have seen photos of machines stuffed in sedans, HHRs/PT Cruisers, convertibles....and for the lucky few, enclosed trailers?

I picked up my 2009 F150 when the Gov't did the Cash for Clunkers deal, traded in my old F150 for a pretty nice credit towards this one.  Love the way it drives on the highway, makes the long trips easy.  80K miles on it so far, all by me and it's been great.  I put a Bed Rug in the back, which is a plastic based rug material and it's been great.  Holds up to the heavy duty stuff like loads of stone but is still soft enough to load up a machine and slide it in without too much friction.

I've had my F150 with the Ecoboost for a couple years now and love it.  I have the Line-X spray in bed liner which has held up to many soda machine/coolers.  I hauled a Coke Vertical 6 cooler home for my brother today and the 5.5ft bed was just long enough to get the gate closed.  With he weight of that machine I didn't have to worry about straps.  This picture however is a couple years old when I picked up a C51 and WE-6.  Made me a bit nervous with C51 standing up but didn't have too far of drive.

I have used everything:  mini-van, S-10 Blazer, S-10 pick-up, Dodge Dakota, Dodge Magnum, Ford Taurus and my current hauler--Dodge Journey.  The key is always keeping a moving blanket and a length of 2" PVC to make loading a breeze!  One time, I was moving a VMC 110 in the Dodge Magnum and a guy cut me off.  Had to jam on the brakes and the machine almost drove me through the dashboard!  Lesson learned there is to put some carpet padding or something else with a bit of grip on it under the machine to keep it from sliding around.

Here is my favorite pic.  Not as good as the roundtop wedged into a Thunderbird; however, I got the Heintz C2P into the van and almost could not get it out!

When this neighbour isn't around to haul Jacobs in a back pack for me.....
I use my Ford Flex.... OR many times I've rented UHaul trailers (closed for restored, open for parts machines)

My 1997 Chevy Tahoe has hauled just about all of my machines. The truck is still going strong and picking up machines - just hauled a VMC-110.
One time I had a C-51, C-33 & a C-27 all inside the vehicle along with my 2-year-old son, who was in a baby seat in the 40 part of the 60/40 back seat. The thing was packed to the gills for a drive from Dallas to Phoenix. Sadly no pic! Good times!!

We don't have the Lincoln anymore, but a WE6 chest J-U-S-T fits in the back of a Lincoln Navigator.  Note the 'notch' in the roof that allowed for clearance for the cooler.

I like the China Freight fold-up trailer. Didn't cost much. Entertaining assembly process. 1200 lb. load. I stop at 800.

Don't need it everyday so folded up it gets in a corner of the shop. 20 minutes to deploy if needed. Works for me.
