I love those machines. I have one that I am going to do one year. I'm not sure what year. They had two similar bases. One of the bottoms went 90 degrees straight down and the other one went on a angle and the 90 degrees down. I have the straight 90. I wish I had the other one, but at least I have a stand. I have a thing for stands.
The machine turned out nice. Did you paint the inside or plate it? Was the "Candy" top piece chromed?
Here's a picture of an ad, a angled base, and a straight base. I'm going to paint mine like that two toned blue one in the last picture.

Larry,
I painted the inside of the machine, and all of the shelving units, there are twelve of them. The CANDY script was in really nice condition when I received it. So I really just polished it and it came out really good! Now the actual mechanism sides of the shelving units have a sliding piece to them and must slide free in order for the machine to work properly. I did nothing to them except sand blast, replace all the springs and basically left them alone. If I had painted the sliding mechs the paint would have gummed them up and the machine would never vend properly. So if some was doing a 100 point resto I would plate these for sure. Like I stated in a previous post the
button mechanicals
are the hardest thing to restore on these. It really is a jigsaw puzzle, once you figure that out the rest is pretty easy. Patience on these are an absolute. Hundreds of tiny screws, nuts and about 5 different size springs which number in the hundreds also. But well worth the work when finished as it really is a nice looking machine you just done see everyday. GOOD LUCK with yours!!!
Someday I hope top find a base for mine!!!
