OK,

have bought an old medical cabinet and its made of glass & aluminium [thats aluminum guys]

now have stripped it of paint and want to polish it up.

now i have used autosol for lots of metal polishing jobs here in the UK but i distinctly

remember someone on the forum restoring an old Ajax i think it was, hot nut vendor

using some kind of specialised aluminium polish or paste that made it more than sparkle.

now no tools in my workshop, all done by hand, so no major tool polishing options just

want some advice or products that you guys use to really shine aluminum to gleaming

well at least i think it was this forum.........

many thanks in advance

I also use Flitz.  You can buy it on the web.

I have had good luck on aluminum trim using jewelers rouge and a high speed polishing wheel. Ive never done big panels but the rouge will polish it like chrome and polish out fine scratches too.

You definitely don't want to use high speed on aluminum or you will burn it, the rouge is fine to use although there are specific polish bars for aluminum,  but 1800 rpm max is the highest speed you will want to use, seeing most bench grinders and big box store polishers run at 3600 rpm's I would be very carefull...

Flitz

It seems to work well on everything.  I really like it on stainless.

thx everyone for prompt relies, its much appreciated

looks like a lot of you guys use Flitz!

its not available on Ebay UK [am in England], but is available on Amazon UK.

from the internet it states Flitz made in Germany, and only distributed in USA?

yet only Flitz products on Ebay Germany are from same US international sellers.

do you think it could be sold under a different name in Europe?

if it was, maybe easier & cheaper for me to source here in UK?

GP,
Finding several  sellers  for Flitz on Ebay Motors UK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=flitz+metal+polish&lpid=25&keyword=flitz+metal+polish&clk_rvr_id=582677304436&crlp=16075896517_2683116_ICEP3&GUID=e5a3b1a813a0a5e9a5071407fff78189&adpos=1t3&MT_ID=10&device=c&geo_id=32251&keyword=flitz+metal+polish&rotation_id=710-35648-5910-0&crdt=0&ff1=keyword%3Dflitz%2Bmetal%2Bpolish&ff3=1&ff4=69_25&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=69&ff13=84&ff14=25&ff17=flitz+metal+polish&ff19=0

Worst case, find a good automobile club, and ask them what they use and where do they purchase it.
