Most of you know about my lamp side-business that I have done for a couple of years, well I started to expand into automotive-style lamps, starting with ones made from old single barrel carbs.  I did a local holiday show a couple of weeks ago and did a couple of news spots to showcase what was going to be there.  I had someone contact me about 5 minutes after the segment aired looking to buy one of the carb lamps.  Turns out it was Jeff Gordon's personal assistant, and her husband works on the front end of the 24 car.  He told me that they scrap the parts out of the transmission/engines after each race, and they could start putting together boxes of the parts for me if I was interest in them for a project...tough to turn that down!  I went out to the Hendricks Motorsports shop today and picked up the first box, 75 lbs of shiny gears!

Now its time to figure out what I can make out of them!

I'm not a NASCAR fan by any stretch, but that is really cool.  The gears might make an interesting clock face.

Good luck, and make sure you get a picture with Jeff if/when you get to meet him.   Cool

Great story....We raced go-karts for about 12 years so racing is in our blood. I don't have any ideas what to do with them but just having something from a Hendrick car is special....So that would add instant value.

My Dad years ago made lamps out the old gears.  The gears were the bases welded together different sizes, color,etc.;

What about something as simple as a framed picture with one gear along side it? Kinda like in a shadow box?
