Thanks Pat, I won't give up, most of the fun is in the search.
Heck, I bought my Vendo 39 from a local guy on Ebasay, just as Got it loaded into the pickup truck, the seller came back out of the garage, and said, "hey, if you like coke stuff, why don't you take this, less clutter for me to clean out of here. "This" was a 50's Coca Cola Cooler, spigot on the side, no dings, a little rust, and chrome that still shined. I shrugged, said, well...um.sure, if you want, thanks. but inside my head, I was dancing like Britney Spears on crack.

The chase is still on, I still have a neighbor to check back, and see if he sold his v90 yet. I was thinking of converting it into a Red Wings machine....

Well, went and checked out the RC slider.....Sad  Wow! What some machines have gone
through and of course the owner says to  me “I was talking with a friend who knows a
guy that restores these things....” So here we go... went to the barn and there it sat..
straight body but gutted.... looked like feed or something was kept in it along with mice.
Said I would get back with him.... will be calling to say no thanks.....
But at the auction I did good....... another Vendo coin changer $250.... Was a Sweet Vess
Double Bubble clock but during the Auction someone dropped a milk glass on it and broke
the two glass bubble layers.....Sad ...So next week.... I'll check on the square top and do a little
traveling to check out a round top sitting by a garage.......
How's everyone esles ad replies doing?

I actually just ran one and this week (the first week) I got 4 emails! I'm looking into them.
I don't have more than barely pocket change... we just had a huge family financial crisis a few days ago, but will keep looking and pursuing until I find a fun fixer-upper for really, really cheap.

This is a great thread.

I have stoped my ads for a few weeks. First because I have too many and it was time to change papers. Markito be patient. I have gotten a few machines for free and a bunch below $50.

Are these large papers you guys are posting in, small town ones, freebie papers, or a bit of everything?

I use a bit of everything. I normally don't run an ad for more than 2 weeks and then move on to a different paper.

I run mine in those free papers you get at the gas station.
I live in the midwest and these seem to be popluar with the
farming community and older folks. Free and something to read.
It's always full of auctiona and for sale items. I have another
3 weeks to go then I may re-run it. I'm getting about 2 calls
a week... but I said 1950s bottle machines. If I
would expand to 1960s models I'd get more calls...... Which
I may looking at some of these models you guys are picking up!

I'm not sure about other states, but here in California there is a $10,000 fine for anyone deliberately releasing freon into the atmosphere. It damages the ozone layer.
When people try to sell me a square corner machine I decline, and tell them that the public only likes round corner machines. Then tell them that the scrapyard won't even recyle their machine until  someone licensed by the state, is paid to recover that freon first.
Here's my offer, I'll pick it up from your house at no charge and take care of regulations when I get back. Most people are actually glad to just get rid of it, don't want to haul it , don't want to store it, and can't sell it cause some little thing is usually wrong with it.
Once you get your requests into the community, finding machines becomes the easy part. storage is the biggest issue.
