Product to clean surface rust on machines

I remember seeing a post quite a while back (probably at least a few years) that dealt with cleaning surface rust.  I did some searching but couldn't find it.  The thread contained some before and after pictures of a particular product or compound used to clean surface rust.  Does anyone remember that thread or know what the product is called?  Thanks.
