I picked up this Pepsi sign over the weekend and was wondering how old it was.   It was made by the Stout Sign Company out of St.Louis which is stamped at the bottom along with the marking "M-162".   I thought maybe the "M-162" might refer the age and it was made in 1962.  It is metal and is about 6'x3' in size.   I did look up the Stout Sign company and they are still in business and have a few cool pictures on their website:  http://www.stoutsign.com/about/ . Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I would agree it's a 60's. Not sure of exact date though.

If I had to bet I would say the 162 refers to January, 1962.

Nice sign, I agree probablly 1962.  You can also date pepsi signs by the bottle cap used.  In the late 60's they went to just Pepsi on the cap.  Most pieces with that logo you have are late 50's and early 60's.

Found this metal sign in my book. Same logo from 1960. A little different sign but lets you know we are in the ballpark with date. I agree with ndercole the markings make sense. Jan 62.

sc1101,

Thanks for the info.  Can you tell me what book you found this in?

Thanks,
Nick
