This is sort of a "stab in the dark", but I was wondering if anybody here had a Sammy "Sports Arena" or "Music Arena" Prize machine. I'm not looking to buy or anything, but I was hoping maybe if somebody had one if they would record the music. It's a "stop the light" sort of machine. The "attract music" had a very strange quality. It was so annoying, it actually became catchy over time.

One of these units used to sit an a local WalMart years ago. Through the late 90's it would sit there repeating the same conga-like "attract music", over and over. It was on every time I went; I don't recall seeing anyone (except myself) playing it. I suspect it sat there in that state for hours every day for a good 3 years. I remember thinking "that is so annoying", yet here I sit waxing nostalgic over it.

I've included a picture, to show what it looks like. They may or may not have had the name at the top, depending on the model.

Thanks, I appreciate it  biggrin

Nostalgia is so strange. Sounds that come across as annoying at the time can be recalled with fondness later. This particular sound can still be said to be annoying, but for some reason I like it anyway.

There doesn't seem to be a Dave and Buster's around here. There aren't that many arcades around anymore.  down I'm doubtful Chuck E Cheese's counts

Last time I went to D&B, they had several of those  stop and win machines. Ok, it's been a few years, but still

Thanks for looking for me.  Cool

Just to update, I managed to find it on YouTube. It's not perfect, but at least it doesn't have any serious background noise.

I didn't see this when I first posted. That "woman sneeze" that you hear @ 0:17 is actually part of the machine's sound. Clever attention getter, isn't it?

Could you imagine sitting next to this and hearing it loop, day in and out (well, maybe the non-24 hr stores turned it off who knows), for years on end? Almost makes you feel sorry for the adjacent claw machine that ripped you out of that 75-cent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles knock-off plush at the last possible second, doesn't it?

Not based on a true story.
