off topic here but I know some of you guys collect gas stuff too...a friend of my wife's wants to get an unrestored gas pump for her husband, he is not a collector likes them and is looking for a first piece,
can you guys point me in a direction of models that wont break the bank and a non-collector would find cool? if anybody has something that might fit this description (unrestored with patina, not too far gone) I'm interested in seeing pics, I'm in the new york area
thanks

Check oldgas.com My favorite is the Bennett 700 series... and the Tokheim 39 and 300 are nice pumps too... 40/50s era still can be found around $400-500 maybe even cheaper depending on location and seller of course.

It will be nearly impossible. Even Tokein 39s "shorties" are going in rough shape for $300-400.

I agree that the 50's era pumps, you cant go wrong with any of them.. Tok 300, 39's Bennett series and such.. all cool but yes pricing is through the roof lately on these models.. 500-600 bucks around me to touch one..
you can get into the squared off 70's style pumps a little more reasonable 150-250 range .. but not as cool in my opinion

A square top is still a square top. Spend the extra cash if you can and get one from the 1950s. The ones from the 70s are not nearly as collectable.

Where about are you at? and I agree that the gas pumps of the 70's just don't have the same wow factor
