Well JohnieG (John) Did another hands down great job on this compressor and it was done right  smile

the owner of the VMC Pepsi 81  had it done a few years back  by some one out east (can't say) but it was a horrible job and was done wrong and a poor job , John had opened a valve and there was nothing left in the compressor oops

A before & a few afters just waiting for the coin mech to come back from repairs

Great Job John thanks

They must not have realized that the suction line doesn't have to be the same length as the cap tube. Unless the condensing unit was mounted remotely.

Yeah, it was a bit of a mess, bad leaks at the brazing/joints so it leaked down & sat for quite a while to atmosphere, so when I checked a sample of the compressors oil it had gone acidic ( atmospheric water in the oil) plus it (the compressor) was more of a consumers grade/"refrigerator" bowling-ball style, so a new filter-dryer, line flush. so a new 1/4 HP Tecumseh R-12 rated unit was in order.

I chopped off about 2.5' of suction line, replaced the capillary tube & tack the cap' tube to the suction line. got rid of the used evap' & condenser fan motors, and took care of that ridiculous evap' motor fan-bracket, media blasted & powder coated the deck-plate & condenser coil & motor bracket. Topped it off with a new wiring harness ( although the original attempt was an impressive tangle of wire-nuts & electrical tape)

Well.... you get what you pay for. Yeah, he's still in business, and I take customers from him monthly.
The longer he stays in business.... the better!

Nice looking unit Johnie.... no "pun" intended!  glare
