This is another Ideal 55 I picked up. Any one have an idea why there is a hole through the inner and outer door- roughly 1-1/2" in diameter. Looks like it was done later in its life with a hole saw.

I think someone had the idea to make a kegerator, then gave up.

Is that a 60's Slider? Top looks different, usually they are stainless.

No- it's the outer side panel. I took it off to weld in a patch to cover the hole.

If someone was thinking of turning that slider into a kegerator they doubley screwed up. 1 A keg would not fit in the cooler very easily and 2 the hole for the faucet is way to big for the shank. They must have figured it out and decided to cut their losses and sell it.

If someone really needed a hole through the side of a slider, he would have found a perfect setup on the other side....behind the coin mech.  darn

The keg idea makes sense. The hole is way too big for a tap- maybe they realized they goofed up after it was too late.

At first I was thinking there might have been some accessory I didn't know about that might have gone there.

The only thing  we know for sure is that  the holes in weren't a factory option
