Problem is the metal is thicker than on the removable band thermometers. You would have to make so many small bends in the metal it would look like crap when you get through. If you go on ebay and type Pam thermometer you can click on any of them that picture the front and back and will see how they are made. I found this post interesting because I just bought a nice one in an auction but didn't realize it had some trash on the back side of the glass. I guess all of these things were made to use and then throw away.
