I'm very excited that I won this baby at an auction last night.  The wife only let me buy it if I sold the WE-6 that I have, so I guess that's for sale now as well.

I like Coke stuff but my passion is Dr Pepper.  If anyone has a DP machine, of similar value and condition, that they'd like to trade I'd definitely be open to that.  I'm looking for a project and would prefer DP but if I get "stuck" with this machine I'll still be very happy.

Here are some details.

The Good:
Ammo belt is inside
Coin mech in place
All bezels, plates and chrome pieces are there
Motor looks solid and I was told it gets cold.
All rust seems to be minor.

The Bad:
Obviously not original paint
Ammo belt is missing 2 of the 3 guide things that it moves around
Clearly dirty

I see that there is a restoration manual on Ebay for about $25.  Does anyone recommend this or are there free resources available?  Any tips or suggestions on this machine are appreciated.  I plan on picking it up tonight and getting it in the garage.  This weekend I'll probably start documenting and opening it up.

Thanks.

Everything you need to know is/was posted here. Save your money, you will need it.

take pictures, lot of pictures
put the parts in in baggies  and label
Take more pictures

The so called restoration manuals you usually  on Ebay are  usually photocopied  service manuals They will help you identify parts, and  provide exploded views. and you can prolly find one cheaper than $25

I bought one for my caviler 72 because I had an eBay coupon that was going to expire. there is definitely nothing in there that would be useful above common sense and the info available on the the message board. Take your own pictures as it comes apart and you have a better manual than you are paying for as there is not any "secret information" in there.

Thanks for the replies.

Couple more questions.

Is the hand holding the bottle original or did some add that?
Where can I get the sprockets for the ammo belt?
I found I'm missing the coin return bezel.  Funtronics has them for $75.  Any cheaper options?

The general consensus is the hand, sprite boy,  Bottle, etc were  decals Coke made available to the vending route owners, but did not come form the factory / It's a matter of personal taste to add or leave off.

Sprockets.. Ebay??  or a parts machine?

You can find the bezel  on eBay, but factor in plating, shipping, purchase, and it may or may not be such a cheaper option.

The paint may have been re-done by Coke when they added the white top. It doesn't look too bad in the picture.
Are you certain you want to spend the time and money on a not real popular machine? My advice would be to clean it up real good and maybe even touch up the paint, then trade it off for your Dr. Pepper machine.
