Growing up in Detroit it was always pop. Moved to Atlanta and you would have thought I was from a different planet when asking for a can of pop. Quickly transitioned to coke and have been a good southern boy ever since!

We called it soda pop in my family, That' when it was a real treat. Because my mom did not buy soda pop much because it was not a healthy choice, and when she did buy it it was always some off brand like Shasta.

Found it interesting how quickly some of the colors changed. Look at the St. Louis area, there is an area of "soda" users surrounded by "pop" on the North and "Coke" on the south. Then in the Northeast, it almost instantly changes over from "soda" to "pop". Thanks for posting this, really enjoyed looking at it.
