Saw this on youtube tonight.  Anyone else seen this before?  What do you think he cut it open with?

Pretty cool.  Not what I was expecting to see once opened up.  I guess I always thought there was magic inside of them.  Nothing special though.

when I started Global Compressors, this is what I use to do. I designed and built a rotating table, to cut these sealed
compressors open. Then we used a 25 ton electric/hydraulic press, to push the rotors off the crank shaft and take the
compressors apart. You need 3-5 of the exact compressor model to build 1 or 2. When we closed the rebuilding part
of the company, and downsized, we scraped over 350,000 lbs of compressors, that we had stock over the years for
rebuilding.

If you you notice the springs on the sides, in the video, is one of the reasons why we don't like lying the soda machines
down in the back of a truck. These springs will jump off the mounts or break, causing the compressor to knock, on the
inside of the "can" eventually causing failure.

Not sure what he meant between 4 pole and 2 pole motors. The compressors back then, were 1800 rpm and today's machines
are 3600...same displacement in 1/2 the size.

interesting for sure as I had no idea how they actually worked.. so is the reason they are all sealed up like that is because the oil just sloshes around in there like in a crankcase on an engine?  (novice cooling guy here!).. Oo

Thats pretty cool! Also looks like it would be kind of fun to take on appart like that. Was going to see about doing that with the one from the machine at work but I did not ask the guy who was replacing it.
