No holes for mounting mount, and painted on plywood, I thought by the 1940's most outdoor signs were  metal. .. Shrug, not getting a warm fuzzy

That would have been produced as a "slow for school" sign, so it would have had to have a base allowing it to stand alone on the street. Plus Coke almost never used regular plywood in their advertising and even if they had, it would never have retained it's shape all these years.
It's a nice home-made project but should have been described as such since the seller is no newbie to this hobby, judging by his other auctions.

I don't know the age of this sign, I've seen them on eBay before. You're buying this as is.

That's a telling quote from the listing.

My vote is a nice home made sign... the Coke logo in the red circle... the “L” in Cola, the loop is touching the C's top loop that goes through the “L” that's not correct... The “DRINK” font in the circle that's the 30s early 40s look... the bottle decal is a late 40s 50s decal look...

Also the “R”s in “DRIVE REFRESHED” None of the three match.. if this was made at a sign shop then they all would be consistant with each other as they would have used a machine to type set all the letters for screening...  these all look hand done... they're good but not Coca-Cola Corporation good.

Just a artist point of view.

I think Eric nailed it.  The "Drink" font does not look correct to me but I did not even catch the other items he pointed out.  That is the value of the experts on the site.

Nice fantasy piece but not worth anywhere near $395.

It's too bad, as that seller has been selling for years and usually has nice stuff, but it does appear he is passing this off as I bet he got stuck with it at one point.. like others have stated, it appears to have been "Re-Created" from an original design..

As well, I don't know if its just the glare from the flash and all... but the back side looks like it has various nicks and scratches, yet the front seems to be perfect..... how is that possible?

Yet as others have stated, it's hard to tell from a pic, AND when something is too good to be true, it usually is.... as others have told me along my ways.

I've been burnt with a repo sign passed on as  as an orig.,.... and it sucks lol
