A man and his truck these go together like a bat and a baseball or coca cola and a glass bottle  or a mouse and a trap.
So is there going to be a hunt for a new truck ?  You can't go long with out one,  you will have withdraws believe me I know
I did it once for three weeks and it was awful.

About the only weak link on the 7.3 is the tranny. Buddy of mine has a 6.0. Lots of small issues with it. Seems like removing all the EGR and stuff is the hot setup for them.

I'm listening too...

Eric, that's extremely low mileage for a '99 ! ! !
Can I ask what you paid for it...?

Eric,

Sorry to hear about Betty, but Goldie certainly looks like a keeper.  My wife will own NOTHING but a gold car.

I've been around diesels my whole life. THERES NOTHING COMPLEX ABOUT THEM that anyone
needs to keep fixing...CRAP  darn

I don't know anything about Chevrolet diesel. I would ask questions... what version? how long has it
been out? etc. See if they're still using the Allison Transmission...etc...

Dodge on the other hand, have been using the same, old, Cummins forever. It works and they DIDN'T
FIX IT!!!! The same thing with the gas motors too...

Ford.... I am disappointed. The 6.0 and 6.4 twin turbo...complete "fodder". They run the intercooler, oil cooler,
and transmission lines through the same plastic piece of crap... one crack and it's over $12 grand for a new
motor. The turbo is inferior and undersized. The waste gate sticks, anytime there is corrosion, calcium, rust...triggering
the engine light. 3 head bolts per cylinder as opposed to 4 in the 7.3 liter. Under heavy use...blown head gaskets boys and girls...

Why should I have to buy something else for the NEW 6.7 diesels? Why do I need a "premix" of sorts, just to pass EPA emissions?

Personally, I think its all BS  censored..... and Ford has lost my new truck business.

Jim.... I paid $12,400 for the truck. It was the "little ol' lady" from Pasadina deal! They bought it to tow a gooseneck and used it a few times.
She died and he sold everything he had... Clean carfax...(which is WAY COOL) get one EVERYTIME and you can see all maintenence, owners, wrecks, etc. Totally taken care of and it's a 7.3 Liter.... (HEAR THAT FORD??? 7.3 LITER!!!!!)  "DOUCHEBAGS"

So, that's my review... and out of the ashes...another one has risen! "GOLDIE"

Ford really struggled with their engines in the mid-2000's, the 5.4l is a mess with the spark plug issues that they have.  I hope they fired everyone in the engine shops and started new...especially since I bought an 09 with the 'new' 5.4 in it.  I'm hoping all the issues don't start manifesting in a couple of years.
