I have been searching and searching all over the internet, through books, contacts, and I have not been able to find a picture or any trace of this cooler's existence anywhere. It has been weeks now, so if anyone knows what type of cooler, age, model, ANYTHING about this cooler is please contact me.

What I do know is that it is old, 40's or earlier. It is stamped with Drink Coca-Cola over all the sides and under the lid. There is a drain (pipe) that splits in two on the one side (maybe for a drain hose???but why two??). The two hinges that open the door have been replaced at one point and are not original. It has the original paint. There are no weld marks on the bottom so this was never part of another machine. I am completely lost on this one. So if anyone knows anything about it I would really appreciate any knowledge. Also, I will try to take more pictures of the cooler and post them as well. I would really like to know what I am working with before I decide whether or not to restore this cooler.

It's a Westinghouse junior ice chest, cut & butchered to look like the fabled "half jr."

We have seen these coolers, Westinghouse Juniors, cut down before...
Only good for a for parts as this is not a factory modification...

My six cents,

This is a westinghouse junior that has been chopped up. Thanks for the input. Now all I have to do is decide if I should restore it or leave it be.

There were a lot of these juniors cut in half by the military during the second world war to save on space shipping them overseas. Many of them seemed to have come back with the troops so they do have a history, but are not really of much use in the collectors market.

My first thought was it could be a Westinghouse Half Junior, although it doesn't have handles on the sides, and the embossed logo looks about the same size as a Westinghouse Junior.

About six months ago I saw a "real" half junior at a local estate sale store.  I missed it by one house.  It went for $299.00.  The inside lid was embossed.  It was a pretty cool little cooler.  It killed me the whole time I was in there because it was sitting there and the seller hadn't picked it up yet.  When I stumble on the picture I took I will post it.
