What was the original material used in Vendo or VMC 81 bottle door windows? Glass, safety glass, Plexiglas, or something else?

The outside is plain old glass but the 2 inside were plexiglass. Have your glass shop cut all 3 from glass, it is so much clearer. You had best have them drill holes in the inside 2 like original or you may have fogging problems.

My thoughts exactly... the door will be clearer if all glass and no Plexiglas.

If all 3 panes are glass, is there any risk of them shattering when the bottle door "slams closed" (i.e. spring action)?
