Question about a can stack, it appears I'm missing a spring but not sure.  This is a can stack on a Vendolator 56, when the solenoid pulls in should it remain in until the selection is pulled?  or should it pull in trip the lever and then have a spring (somewhere) to pull it back out?

I ask since in my case the solenoid pulls in, but stays in, you cannot pull the gate levers to dispense a can, but if you pull the solenoid back out manually the gate levers work fine for one cycle.  The thing is I cannot see any location where a spring would be fastened to always keep the solenoid plunger out.

Hope this makes sense to someone.

There is a manual in the Downloads section with a schematic of the can stack.

There is no spring that should go in the area of your picture. The spring you should be looking for is located behind that assembly, on the backside of the bottle stack.

Thanks, I found the manual but still having trouble figuring this out.  I do have a spring on the opposite side, but the stack only seems to work if I manually push the solenoid back in after it's been triggered. I'll have to play with this some more.

Maybe you have a bad solenoid? Check the troubleshooting section of the manual - maybe it covers this issue?

Bad solenoid I would think the solenoid should return to closed as soon as voltage is removed, electromagnetic connection.

I've had this issue with bottle stacks, and usually lubing up the sliding tracks on the back of the stack cures it. I don't have a can stack here to take a look at and see if its the same thing.

thanks for the comments, I found the issue... I was testing the can stack out of the machine on the bench on it's side, if you place the stack in the upright position gravity causes the solenoid to drop back into the open position.  Also might have had something to do with a little lube but it's good to go now, thank you.
