DIdn't the Vendo 44s command high prices back in the day (80's and 90's)? Will the prices fall on the 81's as well? Just wondering.

when and if the prices fall on the 81's I think it will pretty much be the end of the hobby at that time.  the 44's were popular because of their small size and it was easier to find the small bottles for them to vend.  when the small bottles became scarce, people started buying 81's and 72's because of the nostalgic look and the versatility of the adjustable shelves. at least thats how a saw the swing in hobby, others may have a different opinion.

I think you are right about the 44's....I don't think the market will drop on the 81's like it did for the 44's. Too much versatility and the size is right, bottle door with all the selections, door lights up, etc.

I don't see anything in the photos to make me think it's a fake, outside of a few small details I think the restoration (at least in photos) looks pretty good.. but we all know until you see something in person, it's just so hard to tell..
yes your right Eric on the bubbles, they are just painted on and yes he did miss one... but he also did some outlining on his and the orange box.. not that it looks bad, just different.
As far as price... I think he is basing it on Barrett Jackson Pricing... but again guys, how many do you see come up for sale.. and for the right person, this might just be the machine they need and want and hopefully he gets his asking price...

All in all they are beautiful machines... I can't wait to complete mine someday when I have time! glare

You guys are right about the bubbles they are not embossed. I think his asking price is fair, honestly how many do you see for sale? Not many. When I go to restore mine, green and white? Or all white? These were originally all white, I like the green and white but where does originality factor in here?

Great question. I'm interested in hearing what others think.

I like the RC one color and the Pepsi/7up two tone...I think it takes away from being original, but if I have to (get to) look at it everyday, I prefer the two tone

When I did my Pepsi 81 I struggled about color choice.  I ended up going original solid blue.

I do think two tone would sell better because it is flashy.  But on a 7-Up it needs to be all white.
