You suppose this guy's asking a bit much for this machine??  He must think it's already been restored by Rick or something...

It's the same way with Barrett Jackson with cars, everyone thinks their rust bucket is worth a fortune. Not that this was a rust bucket but you get the point. I have looked for cars and coke machines over the last few years and I can't believe what people think they are worth

Everyone thinks their treasure is worth a mint.  Shoot, I got a Coke bottle worth $4 million....now if I can only find a sucker...I mean a person to give me that much for it.  It's only worth what someone will pay for it regardless of what the books say, right?  So I figure if I can get $4 mill for my .50 cent bottle, then that makes it worth that much, right?  Haha.  Yeah, I know, I'm smokin' something...haha.  Oh well, maybe the guy will get what he's asking if he has the skills to talk someone into it.

Yeah, you don't know how many times I have heard "do you know what this is worth restored?" "I saw one on T.V. last week."

Well,

I guess with this crowd, you've all heard the same comments.

I have an unrestored V-39 in comparable condition that is complete and cooling.  Mine even has the casters and dolly bar for the back so it can be easily moved.  It also has the cover for the compressor opening on the back.  I will let it go for half of what this guy is asking!  biggrin laugh Cool  Seriously!!!  I even have all of the decals needed for a complete restoration!

But more power to him if he can get his asking price!  I am a firm believer in the theory of "caveat emptor"--let the buyer beware.  The resources are out there that will allow any buyer to research a machine before he pulls the trigger.  It is an expensive lesson if you don't take advantage of the information that is out there.

I am asking $1200.00 for one right now. And yes, I realize that's a bit high. I have had a few phone calls but no real bits.

That's still one of the most popular “Classic” Coke machines...
I can see $1200 for a clean straight machine.
