Vendo coin changer

Gonna look at what seems to be a real clean late model Vendo Coin Changer. Unrestored, not needing work at all.

What are they selling for?  Wanted for my collection, so I'm gonna hang on to it.

Seen them go around $700-800 on eBay... restored $1000+ depending on model and if it has
a stand or backing plate.

No backing plate or stand.  Very clean origonal condition.

A VCC eBay auction (and recent thread here on SMC) recently ended.
No pics of the inside and it sold for $810. Seller says it is all there though; however, it is obvious he has never tried to get an old "Duo" lock key made before. It is not something any old locksmith can do that I have found.

I've bought a few over the years ranging between $450-$600 usually. Maybe I've been lucky, but here are some of them.
2004  - eBay two (2) late model changers $1200 shipped - won auction and made package deal for the 2nd one she casually mentioned in conversation
2007 - eBay $539 shipped (with mounting plate)
2009 - eBay $489 shipped
Now my sale auctions have always been $750 - $800. The late model "Empty" changer usually gets the higher bid.

Also will depend on what they know... I would think they've done their homework and have looked on eBay
so they are gonna want around $700 or more...
I was lucky enough to have bought mine at auction a few years back with the “Bell Boy” insert
instead of the “Have A Coke“ insert (which I think helped) for $250. early model (no window) complete.
If it doesn't have the Coke insert that helps cause anything with Coke on it, as you know, is golden.

One ended recently for over $1000.00 on ebay.  It was original and the chrome was not nice at all.  I think there was some shill bidding going on.  I have seen a few more go for in the $800.00 range.

I recently listed mine.  It is painted but not restored.  Chrome is original.  Had a buy it now that fell through for $700.00.  I relisted it and didn't get a single bid.  I've been watching them again and prices seem to be up.  Maybe it's time to relist.

With economy the prices are all over the place... Like my vintage telephones.. wow the prices seemed to have dropped
 Western Electric 102s restored were around $300-400 not seeing that now...

I don't think that is outrageous pricing John! But is it a full restoration or paint and chrome? Does yours have the original base or a CC embossed base with a pole?
I don't think I've ever seen an all-original VCC with mounting plate and stand sell for less than $1000 - an original stand can be hard to find. There is a completed eBay listing on eBay for a VCC & original stand in Utah. Seller calls the VCC restored, but it isn't - exterior paint job (maybe spray bomb - can't tell) and chrome and decal - $1500 with reserve and no bids! Seller states it is worth $2500-$3000 - another person with TV goggles on I think? Not valued any higher than an unrestored VCC with stand IMO - $1000-$1100 - little higher if chrome is nicely done, but not paying a premium for the paint job!

Although my VCC sales brochure pictures 2-3 different types of stands for the VCC, I've only ever seen the one like in the Utah listing. I own one as well.
