I was in the same position about a year ago with a USS machine, about 6 months of searching and finally a CSS-96 popped up locally for $100 and the deck was in great shape.  Hopefully you can find something for cheap.

I have found that as long as the line is on the right side it will work. It may take a little modification and with cavaliers you may not get to use the bottom selections but with a cav 96 you can loose 1 or 2 of 12 selections and still have plenty of space for sodas.

Vendo and most other brands evaporators sit vertical and cavalier evaporators sit horizontal so if you put another companies system in you usually can't fit in the shelves to the 1st or 2nd selections but it works.

Since you are in TX. maybe get ahold of Eric at Global Compressors and see if you can't work something out.
