Restoring America...1 machine at a time!

« on: January 22, 2011, 10:25:10 am »

Anybody ever been to the auction and saw coca cola stuff? I'm thinking about taking some of my machines there next year and securing booth space. I think it would be a great venue to sell some stuff. Anyone interested in "going in" on a booth, let me know. I've never been but always wanted to go. I know they auction off vintage signs and stuff but only a couple machines i've seen best. I might try to get some space at the Mecum auction here in Indy this year so we will see what happens. Lets get a bunch of stuff together and knock it out of the park!

A friend bought a nicely restored V81 @ BJ last year for $3,200 plus buyers prem & shipping.  IMO, not a bad price considering how much it costs to do a quality resto on one.

There are several vendors that sell at the Barrett Jackson auction, To include The CoCa Cola Cowboy, Dan Cooney also sells items there. At the Mecum auction J & R saloon sells pop machines and gas pumps also.

From my understanding and what ive been told by a few that go and sell there you can no longer get a booth to sell signs or restored machines or gaspumps. Everyone that already sets up is Grandfathered in. Dont take my wod on it just what im told.

Steve Ebner and I spent all day yesterday loading for the Mecum Auto auction in FL. Pulling out at 3:45am in the morning. We set up on Tuesday morning. Anyone in the FL. area please stop buy and see us. I'll try and post lots of photos for everyone to see. I will have video of the show on my facebook page along with lots of pictures, so look for me on FaceBook under memory lane restorations. Call me on my cell if you get to the show and I'll look for ya. 301-991-3532 Thanks Curtis Kauffman, Memory Lane Restorations

The BJ auction is held about five miles from my house. I don't go every year and did not go this year, but if anyone ever comes to it please get in touch.
As far as the grandfathering, I can't imagine that they would turn money away but.....
I found this information on the BJ website. A definitive answer is a phone call or email away.

Would be fun to go, but from the vendors  I know that go, the booth space fee is rediculous like $5,000 just to set up, and they say that only the rare stuff sells, hence why CC cowboy makes up those Orange Crush 81's and others.. he told me the Coke Stuff rarely sells.

The CC cowboy also sells a ton of Eco islanders there. He told me people go nuts for them. Not the plain Eco 98 on a pedestal but the islanders with the air/water and the light.  He told me he gets about 5k+ on those.  He also sells a lot of stoner candy machines there.
