I wanted to know if the serial numbers that Vendo used tell you anything. Can you get a date of manufacture from them? I am asking because I just got another Vendo fountain dispenser and am wondering when it was made. The numbers on them are 0121785, 1042705 and 8032605.

If you want to see them here is a link to my web page

The new one is the 1950's Vendo

Hey Steve,

I'm not sure about syrup dispensers, but Vendo Soda Machines had production dates incorporated into the serial numbers on pre 60's machines that I'm aware of...
I'll do a little digging tomorrow and get back to you if I find out anything...

Steve,

Sorry for the delay!
I'm waiting for some documentation that may shed a little light on Vendo Syrup Dispensers...
Hopefully, I'll have something by next week...

As for soda machines, the serial numbers are only accurate for model manufactured prior to 1958 and not all models followed this serial number convention...

I know this is an old thread, but like me, someone else might be doing a search on this same topic.

ColaMachines.com has some info on Vendo s/n's.  But what isn't mentioned is that, as Jim posted above, it only applies to '50s machines.  My V-63 has the number 3TK 065811, so their system doesn't apply.

Vendo machines 63's were made from 1959 to 1966. Sorry I couldn't narrow it down any further.

I have never seen any documentation of dating Vendo machines into the 60's utilizing the serial numbers; however, it doesn't mean Vendo didn't incorporate this information into the serial number...

Think about this...
Here's the serial number listed above: 3TK 065811
First three alphanumeric digits: 3TK
First postition --> 3 = year --> 1963
Second Position --> I have no idea...
Third position--> month = A - L or 01 - 12; This example, K, is November
Remember, this is just an ASSUMPTION!

Just adding to Jim's assumption... T could be the plant or the line it was manufactured in/on.  Would need more serial #'s to test the theory and see if any of the digits meanings hold water.
