Coin Mechanisms for a Vendo 44?

Is the coin mechanism for a Vendo 44 the same as a Vendo 81 coin mechanism?

Depends on what type mech you have. For the most part they are the same, except the 44 needs a chute on top of the rejector and the 81 does not.
For the change-giver and non change-giver, it is not an issue to swap - you just remove (or add) the chute from the LD rejector.
For the small door/large door mech, you'll need to cut the chute down in size to fit the 81. Once cut, there is no way to utilize it in the 44 again.
Post a pic of the mech and I can be more specific.

Sorry I tried to post a pic but its on ebay and I can not get it to transfer. He did get a message back and said that its in a Vendo 81. But didn't know if it could be used for my Vendo 44, But the item is #270689576796 or type in Vintage Coke coin mechanism it should pop up.

       That coin mech looks like it is mounted in a Cavalier 51 and will not work in a 44.

That mech is in a Cavalier 51 and will also work in a Vendo 39 without modification. If you cut the shaft off and drill a pin hole, it will work in a Vendo 81A/B or small door 110.

PM sent here is a pic of my Vendo 44, that I got from my uncle about 12 years ago, he got it from a gas station that he worked at in the early 60s.

Wow! Looks like a nice original V-44! The V-44 mech is the same as the 56 is the same as the 81D & large door 110, but not the same as the VMC-44/88 or Westinghouse/Sure-Vend mechs.
