New to vending machines

Hi I just bought a Dixie Narco 240/138-6 it had been sitting for 4 years the guy told me the machine will start up and run but the lights on the front are both burnt out i tried replacing them and put them in with the machine off and one bulb burnt out immediately and the other one flashed for about 10 seconds before it went dead I was wondering what would cause this. I also thought about replacing the lighting in it but not sure what to use there is only one place around here to get the bulbs and they are a little over $9  a bulb so i dont want to keep burning them up any advice would be very helpful.

Sorry to hear about your bulb mishaps. Sound like you have a bad ballast to me. Locate the ballast, take it with you to your local store and see if they have a replacment. If not, you can order on online. Good luck, let us know if you need any other help!

Ditto on the ballast and next time maybe just put one bulb in before testing. If it stays lit, then put the other in.

P.S. I'd replace the starter as well.

       I believe the Dixie Narco has 2 ballasts, one for each set of lights.
