He should have let Rick have it for a deal at $5,000! That way Rick could have taken it to the Pawn Shop and made a few bucks by selling it for $7,500 to them and there would have still been enough margin for the Pawn Shop to make a few bucks when they sold it for $10,000.  Everyone would have been happy! biggrin Cool laugh

darn darn darn Seriously, doesn't anybody check closed auctions on E-Bay to see what things are really selling for in the current market!!!  It really is not that hard!  oops

happydrinkers Here's to hoping that the Vegas pricing stays in Vegas and that things in Chicago are reasonably normal! happydrinkers

try telling him your a picker and can't pay retail, have to lower the price(leave some meat on the bone as they say on american pickers)so you can make a little something on the resale.   lol

I contacted the seller a couple of days ago about this machine. Basically saying that Pawn Stars didn't know what they were talking about in saying it's worth $7,500 to $10,000. Well, this seller claimed he turned down a $5000 offer on it ! Yeah, right.

If it's worth the quoted price, then maybe he ought to drive it over to "Pawn-scams" & see if they'll give him his asking price...  tounge

Boy, I REALLY can't wait until the clown (Rick) gets his OWN show on History Channel...Imagine how much more that will add to these idiots and their ridiculous prices!!  So much for any reasonable (forget good) deals to be left out there!!   glare

Like was said, doesn't anyone research closed ebay prices??  There are SEVERAL of those listed each week for $1000 - $2000 in same or better condition that go with no bids week after week.  What makes his worth 6 times as much?   tounge

For any ladies out there, I looked at Rick's Restorations Facebook page and it says he is "In a Relationship".  Sorry.

Well, I too gave it the old college try and attempted to talk some sense into this seller!

Here is what I said and I tried to let him down easy):

Dear tsriverman,
I collect Coke and I wanted to pass along information might help your post. Your machine is a Vendolator Model 3D-33. It holds 33 8 oz. Cokes and has a pre-cooling area that holds 27 more. That machine was produced in the mid 50's and is a 3 on a rarity scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being most rare. It would help to include pictures of the machine from all four sides as well as pictures of the coin mechanism, vending mechanism and the compressor area. I am not trying to be a smart aleck; but, the biggest challenge that you will have in trying to sell this item is that is not worth $6,000. A mint condition 3D-33 would sell for $2,000 on it's very best day. If someone told you it was worth $7.500 you should have sold it to them for $5,000. There are 2 TV shows--Pawn Stars and American Pickers--that are throwing out ridiculous numbers on what things are worth. These numbers have no basis in reality if you do the research. In any event, I wish you good luck with the sale!

And here is what he responded with:

Dear mznb1u,
Thanks for the info, Tim.I got the price i had from Rick, the resto guy on Pawn Stars. He restored one like it except his had no insides and was beat all to hell.He did a jam up resto and they valued it at 3,500$.Again, thanks for the info
- tsriverman

Oh well, as somebody said the other day, everyone has the right to be stupid but some people abuse the privilege! darn darn darn

But then again, maybe he is waiting for that guy that P.T. Barnum was talking about--you know the sucker born every minute! oops

Maybe you should respond with a few links to some eBay 33-3D's and tell them they could make a bunch of money if they buy them up.
