The most collectable VMC 81 Pepsi machines were embossed. If you find an non-embossed machine with a Pepsi logo on it, I would venture to say that it was originally either:
#1 - A generic, non-embossed 81 that somebody threw a Pepsi sign on or some decals. look on the very bottom of the door. There should be a small embossed square with a yellow "VMC" sticker in it or at least the embossed square.
#2 - A main door from 1 of the other 4 VMC 81's that were manufactured. The easiest would have been a Dr. Pepper because it wasn't embossed. It had a porcelain sign screwed on the front with 4 screws. That would be really easy to fill and cover.

Image attachments are restricted to 100KB, so you'll need to re-size the image(s)... In the Attachments Help Section, you'll find a link to a utility that may assist in re-sizing images... Generic VMC 81's had no embossed lettering and therefore could, and were, made into various soda brands such as Pepsi, Dr, Pepper and 7-Up to name a few... As far as fair prices for a "generic" VMC 81, condition would play this biggest factor since you say it is complete and functioning... If it's in nice condition; say 8 or better on a 1 -10 scale, I would say between $600 - $800 assuming we are talking about a RT machine. A ST machine would be less of course...

Embossed Pepsi 81's have been selling above the $2000.00 mark but generic 81's have risen considerably lately. I had 2 BARE generic doors that I placed on E-bay, and to my surprise they brought $800.00 each, although that was a few years ago. My guess is that would put the value of a complete generic machine up to about $1500, and that's higher than a Coke.

Last two generic DP 81's (with signs) that I've seen went over the $2k mark.

You will need to peek under the sign....could be something under it?? RC, 7UP or Pepsi embossing. How much are they asking for it?
