http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1950s-WESTINGHOUSE-COCA-COLA-COKE-MACHINE-/270614652152?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f01e3e4f8

Seller states that some machines came with the embossed letters unpainted

Is that right??/ Would seem a little strange...

I have never seen a machine that came with no paint on the embossed letters. Now machines were often painted in the field and maybe a lazy painter didn't paint the letters in the field. I have seen this same model machine on numerous occasions and I have even owned one and the letters were painted.

what the seller is saying is  " I  didn't want to pay extra for a sign painter"

i can't think of a machine that came from the factory with embossing the same color as the background,

A WC-96.  I don't think I have ever seen one of those but according to the Walters book is heavy.  Looks like the lettering on the side is embossed.  You would think the guy would post better pictures based on the price he is asking!

Good looking machine but I am not sure it is worth what they are asking.  At least not by my check book!

Yeah, he probably got the bill for just the paint job and an estimate for the lettering and realized he was already under water. He'll be using that machine for a while as he'll never get his money back on it. Why do people think that putting a paint job on a beast of a machine will make someone buy it?

I'm sure he'll have the machine for a while, so next time I visit my parents not far from his location, I'll stop in, look at it and inform him of a reasonable price!

My six cents,
