Ideal 55 compressor removal

There is no way I can de-attach the compressor from the lines by loosening the fittings, they are rusted shut. It looks like I am going to have to cut the lines to remove the compressor, my question is: Is there a preferred location to cut the lines for re-attachment? There are 2 lines, one about 1/4 inch, and another small wire type that connects to the dryer, can both of these be soldered back together once the compressor has been serviced? Thanks.

I would let whoever is going to service the compressor do it.
He can recover the freon then cut the lines where he feels is the best location.

once you have recover the freon ( if the system isn't already discharged) you can try to heat the flare-nuts with a propane torch, ( heat only the nuts NOT the copper tubing
especially
if there is any residual pressure in the lines ( this means that you haven't removed the freon from the system) they will expand from the heat & it will help "crack" the rust that is hold the nuts onto the threads of the male flare fittings. don't go crazy with the heat ( not red-hot) and once again
DON'T
heat the copper lines if there is pressure still in the system. use caution

Yeah..220, 221 whatever it takes.
Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon!
