I am probably going to bid on the "nicer" Vendo 81, and the VMC 56 Dr Pepper machine for sure!  The dr Pepper machine is in really good shape.  There are alot of machines that have missing parts.  Take a looksee:

Here is the V81 I will bid on- it cannot be opened.  The moulding has melted shut.  But i can see  the shelves inside

It is missing some shelves but otherwise complete.

This V81 looks complete except the Crank handle.  will also bid on

...more coming!!

Oh I wish I could be there!! darn darn

That DP 56 is sweet! I would say you have at LEAST $700 in parts value alone [coin mech and signs only](if there is a round sign on the left side). The signs look in great shape!

Good luck!!

The first 81 may be the best buy because it is not able to be inspected before the auction but both 81's are actually worth about $1200 to $1500

The 72's are a little rough so I would not bid more than $300 to $500. The primered one is in best shape but has the small letters and is less desireable.

I can't see the Dr. Pepper selling above $500, but in Texas Dr. Pepper is king so ...

One thing to keep in mind is that a Cavalier 72 is much easier and cheaper to restore than an 81 when factoring in chrome plating, coin mechanism rebuilding, door liner replacement, powdercoating  bottle stack faceplate, bottle door medallion etc. although the 81 sells faster and for a higher price than a 72.

Anyways, it should be a fun auction........keep us posted   happydrinkers

Also the mechanical bottle stack and spring loaded shelves and compressor are all the same as a round top 56.

What's to the right of the Stoner machine? Is that a popcorn machine? I have interest in finding a Manley popcorn machine or something like it.

Darn!!  I wish we weren't so close to baby delivery that I can't venture 6 hours from home!  I'd so be there bidding!  Unfortunately, I love that VMC 56 Dr. Pepper as well, so I'm glad we don't have to worry about working out who will bid how much!   biggrin  I'd love the SV-48s as well, not that I don't have enough already!

Good luck, and keep us posted!  I hope you get the DP 56!

Brian, I'm with you on the Manley's and the Snowcone machines.  Can't believe no cup machines, either!

Hi all! Just got back to my hotel room from the auction!

There was a bunch of people there.  I was not able to land either of the V81's.  There was a guy there who some people knew as a common buyer of the V-81's.  they said he always buys em up, almost regardless of price.  They got too pricey for me and I decided to go a different route.

Most of the ice coolers went for around 200-300 bucks.  I actually wrote down most of the selling prices.  I will post em up later. Some of the uprights went pretty cheap depending on models.  Some of the V-39's went way too high.  Some sold for 700 bucks and they were gutted out with no drums, but hey, who am I to say what they are worth eh?!  Oo

So as to what I now own.  I was able to get the VMC 56 Dr. Pepper machine!  happydrinkers  biggrin
I am keeping that bad boy!  It is complete, with all shelves, coin mech, etc.  The porcelain signs are very very nice.  Paid $500!!!!!

I also won the Cav72 shown above that is all primered.  I paid a little more for that one, but it is complete.  I know it is the small embossed one, but I am very happy I now own it!!  biggrin

I also bought the a Westy 42 that was missing some innards, but had a nice working mech.

I also wound up with 2 large coin doors with the bezels from V-81's and another coin mech from a Westy 42.

I also met and spoke to Lynful at the auction.  He is the guy with the Glasco dispensers who just posted in the Syrup Dispensers forum.  He was very nice, very informative as well.  We went head-to-head on some machines!  I will keep in touch with him.

All in all it was a great day and alot of fun had!

I spoke to one of the owners of the auction-house.  He did say that a friend of his had this stuff stored in a warehouse as a personal collection.  Some of the items that he sold today were actually bought from the auction house 20+ years ago by the collector!  He said he met the collector over 20 years ago when he bought some of the items at the auction house.

I'm glad you got the VMC-56 and a little jealous too! I 've seen two mint round 10/2/4 signs go for $500 - you did well!
Sounds like you got several good buys! Can't wait for more pics and prices!

Congrats!   happydrinkers  Glad to hear you got the VMC-56...and I'm terribly jealous!  Great price!

How high did the Selectivend Dr Pepper machines go?  I wonder how much of that stuff I'll now see in our area on Craigslist?!?

You got some great scores, great contacts, and even better memories!   drinking

Well, bad news.  I left my day planner at the auction house.  It had my price sheet in it.  Bummer.  Gonna have to call them tomorrow to see if anyone turned it in.  i thought I had it packed in suitcase.

Either way I know pretty much what all the machines went for.  darn

The complete one went for about 1100 and then add the 12% auction fee, the 8% state tax, and it was up to $1320.  A couple of things that wouldnt let me go any higher was the fact that the moulding had the door sealed tight.  I mean several of us tried opening it without any luck!  Also, none of the machines had been plugged in and it was unknown if they ran or cooled at all.

The guy bidding wasn't even hesitating on bidding against me.  We were the only 2 bidders on the 81's when they got past $500 bucks.  So we went back and forth at $50 increments until it got to the $1100 mark and I was done.  If it wasn't for him, I would have not just one V81 sitting in my garage, but 2 of them!  darn

Most of the chests and wets started bidding at around $100 bucks.  The uprights at around $200.  No reserve on anything...

I think I found the website for this place, looks like they have auctions twice a month or so.  Check out the bottom of the page for some more photos of what they had this past weekend.  I sure am glad I didn't go, I may have filled up a trailer.

Thanks for all the cool pictures, reminded me to ask is anyone going to the Chicagoland Show November 12, 13 & 14. http://www.chicagolandshow.com ? When I talked to Tim he said it would be nice to get a bunch of the Michigan Mafia and others to go to the show together...  I'm going.  Chicago is a great town, I spend allot of time there for work.

 Something to start thinking about.

I really want to go! This will be my first time in 15 or so years going to the show/ I was about 13 when I was there last time. I had forgotten that I had been there until I talked about it with my Dad. I had been to so many swap meets it just blended together. I will try to be there.

It has now become a regular thing that we all meet at Portfillo's thursday evening to enjoy a meal and possibly a few beers together. Plan on meeting us all there.
