Went to some garage sales and I found an awesome telephone. Looks to be an Automatic Electric model 50 wall phone that is in great condition. The guy I bought it from was really helpful and excited that someone was interested in the phone. He made sure I knew how to open it up and told me that if I have any questions about hooking it up just bring it back over and he will help out. I will post some pictures of it soon. Also I only paid 5 dollars for it.

If you got an AE50 for 5 buck you did very well--especially if it is working. Here is a picture of my AE 50. Tim

Yep thats the one I got. I opened it up and hooked it up and everything works great! The dial turns perfectly and the phone has great sound. Sounds like the guy that had it took care of it and had just taken it off the wall of his basement and sold it.

I learned this week, well, earlier and promptly forgot until AT&T was setting up the new place, rotary phones get all cranky with VOIP systems, offered by Comcast, At&T, maybe Vonage ( no sure).
The phone will ring, you can talk, but will be unable to make calls, the phone system doesn't know how to handle rotary dialing.
I'm sure someone has a kit to get around this, don't know if they work, howew they work, or if it's worth it. This will definately mess up installing the payphone

Kilroy, Both of my vintage Automatic Electric telephones work perfectly on my system. I have Vonage and they will call out and ring on incoming calls. Tim
