I used  to do that, but then realized if this person finds another thing like that, it'll be one more deal gone.. so I often leave them with "Oh that's too bad, I would really like to find something like that, if you every run across another or know of somoene with one, please call me.."
That has actually worked for me in the past.. so I have changed my tune...
