Ideal 55's age

Hi all,
I know that Ideal 55 sliders were produced from 1949 thru 1959.
Is there any way of telling which machines had which type of coin mechanisms?
For example, were machines that were fitted with the large, low (frankenstein) mechanisms
early models or later ones? Similarly, those machines that had the 'tall boy' mechanisms
were produced when?
Just curious....
