I was timing the kick in and kick out cycle of the compressor the other night (please spare the "get a life" speech.....HA!) The machine was sitting out on my porch where the temp was about 50 degrees outside. Once the machine temp reached 40 degrees, the compressor kicked on and ran for about 15 minutes. The temperature of the machine was 26 degrees when the compressor kicked off. It took 1 1/2 hours for the machine temp to reach 40 degrees and the compressor kicked on again. This cycle seems ok to me and the drinks are good and cold...
I have the original contact type tstat in the machine....
Does everything sound normal? Many Thanks.

It sound ok , but check the seal's around the main door and bottle door to see if they have a nice seal when closed. And I'm sure you have it full inside right? all shelfs are full, if not put some bottle water in there a a filler.

I still feel like I could get a little better seal when the door is closed. I have adjusted the latch strike to close as tight as possible but there still seems to be a little play once the door is closed........I have also adjusted the bracket on the bottom that helps support the door when it is closed since the door has seemed to have sagged a bit over time. I don't really know a way to make the door shut any tighter? ?

Unfortunately it sounds like it's time for a Main Door Seal replacement. If you've adjusted your latch as tight as it can physically go and you are still having issues with it sealing, I would replace it. Your poor compressor is going to have to work that much harder to keep the interior compartment at temperature.
There are a few places to buy the seal by the foot such as Fun-Tronics, Soda Jerk Works and so on.

Sorry guys - why does it sound like it is not sealed good? - I am not following this. 1 and 1/2 hours between cycles? That is better than most of my machines - my machines cycle on/off every 15-20 minutes. Drinks are cold - compressor doesn't seem to be working too much - what's wrong??

Hey Tom I think it sound ok also the compressor is getting time between cycles that sound great but with him saying there is some play in the door when latch tight I think Brian hit it on the head it would be time for a new gasket. And your is going every 15to 20 min , is it get the noon sun at all ?

Pat - According to every manual I own, cycling 2-3 times an hour is normal. If the compressor doesn't come on but every 1.5 hours, then the seal is appears good is all I'm saying. I don't see how much better you could get!

If the door is not sealing, then a new gasket will not be much more help but adding some sponge tape under the gasket in areas that do not make contact will compensate.

After Talking to Johnie G tonight I brought this up and he reminded me of the talk we had a while back about the bottom hinge's going bad sometimes and that this could be the problem , The rubber seal may be good but not sealing tight it could be off just a hair Or it is sealed with the latch ajustment but that wont last , Those bottom hinges sometime do go bad I had to replace the one on my V90 it was cracked .
