We've een snowed in for the third time this year... Kids love it but after an extended Xmas/New Year Holiday
I just want them to go to school...

No school because of a snow day. remember the snow day's we had back when
we were kid's  if it was knee high you were still going to school , but today  one inch is a snow day. smile  .
So dave  how much do you have there ?

Growing up in Dallas, we used to have snow days. It wasn't that it was that bad; however, once the sun came out a little and melted some of it, the streets turned to a sheet of ice at night. People in the southwest don't know how to drive on ice.

I remember snow days, sometimes we would be out of school for a week at a time. There was at least 3 foot of snow on the level and snow drifts 5', 6' or higher. They use to plow the roads with bull dozers when the plows could not.

I can't say as I ever remember a day in Calgary where school was closed only because of a few feet of snow.

To us this was our only opportunity for "hooky-bobbin'" to school. Back then, all cars had separate steel bumpers. When a car was stopped at a stop sign we would sneak up and hold on to the bumper. When the car would proceed we could be towed as far as possible towards the school. (Only problem was if a patch of snow was melted through to the pavement)  darn

The nice times are when you know in advance of a snow day. We were supposed to be in school on Dec. 21, 22, and 23. The snow started on Friday night (the 18th) and by Saturday evening when the snow ended we had about 20 inches. On Sunday, the 20th, the district called off Mon, Tues. and Wed.  So, after Dec. 18, I didn't go back to work until the 4th.

I'm sorry guys, but I'm having the time of my life ! ! !
It's been cold for Florida weather; it's been down into the 30's at night with highs around high 50's low 60's ! ! !
The good part of this winter weather is that it's staying for several days and not getting cold one night and we're back into the 70's/80's.

My six cents,

Loved snow days!!
Hook the sled or inner tube behind a jeep or VW Bug and off we went. Amazing how well a VW runs in the winter. Forget about any heat though:-)
No snow here yet, grrrr.

Getting dumped on here at the home of the Arch...we get less than an inch here and people can't drive.  Already cleared the driveway once and now it's covered again.  I love the snow - it's the 40 MPH winds that they are talking about coming behind it that I don't like....anybody have an extra bed in Florida until Spring?
