I have a CS-80D cavalier coke machine (1960) need info or advice.fan and motor work but dose not get cold.problem is a leak in line and needs to be recharged .it still has original coca cola attachment to recharge .should i try to repair old sys.or upgrade with new motor and line.every one I have look at it cannot or will not try to repair old sys. Hi & Welcome, now just because a compressor runs doesn't mean that it works, so what your repair people are trying to tell you is they don't want to just recharge an old system & then have you back a week later saying it doesn't work again.
even if the compressor runs if the unit was running for a good while with a low charge they are probably worried about internal damage to the old compressor, perhaps Eric at Global compressors (found in the suppliers section of this site) could give you a better Idea were to go from here, if the "coca-cola" valve/fitting is a silver looking "clamp-on" type this is most likely the source of your leak itself! hopefully the fitting's a soldered/brased on type line fitting.
