Thanks for all the replies. tkaz, if you will take some more pics of the stack and post then when I go to look at the machine this weekend I will know what I am looking at and what to look for. Thanks again!

OK, as promised.
Its pretty simple, a couple of tension springs, and the chain that goes through the assembly. I can take a video and post it on youtube if that helps as well, showing it all in action.
