Was just wondering how many other users on this forum have Soda Dispensers.

In addition to the Coca-Cola dispensers I have on my web site I also have 2 Multiplex Root beer dispensers from the 30’s and a Selmix Dr. Pepper from the 50’s.

So I see that some of you would be interested in adding a dispenser or two to you collection. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have here and I would be happy to give my input on the subject. I have been working with Jim to get the Dispenser section up and running, but until then this is a good starting point.
I have been doing a lot of research and am seeing a growing interest due to several things. First being the size, easy to move, display and in some cases make functional. Second as with the soda machines, dispensers are a strong connection to the pass and then some with the local Soda Fountain in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s being the place to socialize. With all of the things happening in our world people and doing what ever they can to hold on to the past and fountain dispensers seem to be a part of that. Third is with the internet more dispensers are available to more people, and when was the last time you bought a soda machine from across the country and had is arrive at your house a week later in the mail? All of these things are making the value go up on all of the dispensers, so there is no better time to get into dispenser collecting if you haven’t yet.
So if you come across a dispenser and don’t know what to make of it let me know maybe I can help with some info.
If you are ready to go out and find one here are a few things I have noticed. Coca-Cola is the most common and brings the higher prices. This is a bit backwards from other areas of colleting where the less common and fewer made items are worth more. It in my opinion this is due to more people remember the Coke dispensers and that’s what they want. Even with Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and a few of the Root Beer brands being around as long as Coca-Cola, it was Coca-Cola that introduced the “modern dispenser” and dominated the market until the fifties. The one significant thing about Coke dispensers that in my opinion the dose give them a true higher value is that most of the Coca-Cola dispenser models where Coca-Cola only models, where the other dispensers could have had any number of brands using it and when Coke did use a multi-brand unit it brings the higher price.  As with any other area of collecting condition and completeness are key factors and maybe even more so with dispensers. There are very, very few parts being reproduced for dispensers so complete dispensers are worth the extra price. One example of this is the Selmix Regent, the dispenser body can be picked up for around $100.00, but if you want the base (if you can find one) it’s about $150.00- $200.00 and a nice drip tray would set you back $70-$100. As with soda machines the earlier ones bring higher prices (with a few exceptions) and the newer ones (70’s and up) although easy to hook up and make functional are worth little due to their size, weight and usually unattractive stylizing.
So go out there and fine a good one and let me know if I can help you with it.
