I found an old pepsi sign. I was really going to buy the beer sign below the pepsi sign. I asked the seller for a photo and saw the pepsi sign and asked what he wanted for it. He does not know what it is worth and neither do I. Anyone know what its worth?  I may still get the beer sign too.

I'm not sure on value, but be carefull.. these and many other designs where repopped.. they are thin metal and embossed... but if you like it and can pick it up for under 75.00 that's probably a good deal? all depends if you like it or not, really.

thanks, so how do you tell a repo from the real thing? Since this guy has the pepsi sign with an old beer sign and other old junk I have to think its not a repo but then again I can be wrong.

Porcelain can be tricky as alot of sign have been repoped in porcelain, The sign you have pictured is indeed a repop, Size is a big factor, the gromments, the back, the bad thing is signs can be aged to look old, If you read on Oldgas.com this is happening alot. I dont think the sign you have pictured was ever originally produced in porcelain more than likely a tin tacker sign. Ive studied alot of advertising over the years and hopefully one day can become a full time dealer in advertising.

With most things it's just a matter of dealing with this stuff for quite a while... then you just know... but for the newer advertising collector it's getting really tough... Most stuff is marked, or is sized differnt than original so that helps. but there are alot of things popping over seas that is trying to be passed off as original... so it's just a matter of training yourself and best of all just use your gut, but if your investing in a high end piece costing several hundred dollars... it's just best to ask alot of questions and hopefully compare to others who have the same or in books, etc.

Good luck

If you want a real one you may get a bargain if his reserve isnt to high.
