A friend of mine has a LaCrosse slant-shelf machine.  He says that he has to turn the unit off sometimes because the evaporator freezes in to a big block of ice.  He says that it continues to stay cool and the fan inside is always blowing air.  Does this sound like a bad t-stat?

It could also be low on freon.  My central air unit use to do that untill we had freon added.  Now I did one time turn my temp too low on my La Crosse and it turned into a block of ice.  It is one or the other.
