Sanding primer

I'm prepping my Vendo 63 for paint and was curious how fine should I sand it before taking it to the painter?  I've seen great results from just 220 but wanted to take mine further.  That raises a couple of questions:
1.  Does anyone sell anything finer than 220 grit for 6" DA sanders?

2.  Is it possible to get primer too smooth for the top coat to stick properly?

Hello joesquid,
 I always block sand with wet 400 grit prior to paint. Have your painter use a primer sealer prior to top coat finish. If you use 220 g. you'll probably see sanding lines in the finish paint. Spray on a guide coat (I normally fog on some black paint from a spray bomb) Using a wet block you'll remove the black paint from the primer. This sanding method allows you to get the body straight as black paint will stay in the low spots. I only use 80 and 180 g on my DA. I you like the 6" I highly recomend using a 8" random orbital sander, you'll get better results:drinking:
