I always found it interesting that at the start of WWII coke was classified as “essential for soldier morale” by the US war department.  Because of the desire for Coke in manufacturing plants and on military bases, the companies that made Coke machines, such as Vendo, were not required to switch their factories over to war time production.

I have a few Nichol Kola bottles with the list of ingredients listed on the backside. Well, some of them mentioned "decocainized".  laugh

Moondawg already mentioned the "History of Coca Cola".  I thought that was an excellent documentary about Coke and the cola wars over the years.  Some great stuff in the vault in Atlanta too!

After being in the military for over 19 years, I can tell you that morale or the lack of it can be a deciding factor on how good a command/unit performs in real time situations. And sometimes it the small things like creature comforts from home that provide that extra bit of happiness.

I've seen people get irrate over the 1 soda pop machine on the ship not being filled and staying empty for a few weeks due to unavailability of a resupply. Sounds kind of lame, but it's true. It really does have an effect and it isn't positive!! laugh
