Similar, but there are differences. The shaft is the same length as the V-44 (not the VMC-44) and the V-81, but the pin holes on the rear of the shaft are different. Also the WC-42 does not utilize a SO Flag arm like the V-44 & V-81. With a pin hole drilled, it will work in the V-44 & V-81; however, you will not have the SO Flag function. The WC-42 mech will fit other LD Westinghouse machines like the WC-44, etc. without a problem.
