oldgas.com is your best bet on gas, oil, and automotive signs. There are a few books but like all other books they are good for reference and do not point out fakes. Your best bet on fake signs is hand on experience and knowledge from other collectors. I myself have bought fake signs but having the chance to handle hundreds of signs, globes, etc it makes it easier for me but I still make a phone call or two if im not 100% certain on a purchase.
