Hi, I just bought a Westinghouse Standard Cooler I think... It has some rust, the doors on the top are rusted and the insulation is gone. I am interested in information about the machine, I heard it was from the 30's - 40's. I assume they would have been filled with ice. Was there a motor in the bottom compartment, or was that for storage? I will be looking forward to restoring it! ALSO are there any guides or manuals for restoring one? Thanks for any info!  laugh

Sometimes on these coolers there will be an embossing along the inside upper tub/liner... letters and number
like TN-39... would mean, I believe, Tennesse and 1939 for example... So you can date it.
Your is a dry box (ice). That area is for storage.
lids show up on ebay from time to time... lucky to have the cap catcher those can go for $75-100 on ebay
Check with Rod at Fun-Tronics... he has gaskets, openers, repro lids (I think)... Check his website or I'm sure he'll chime in...
That's my favorite Coke cooler. Keep us posted on the restoration.

Thanks for the replies! I'll check that site out! I have a question about the rust spots on the cooler. This is my first one that I will restore, how should I fix the rust spots? Also, I couldnt find any by searching google, are there any books, or tutorials for restoring a machine/cooler? Thanks!

On my Junior, there was a cross member or two under the tar holding the tub.  You'll find it/them, remove them  and the tub will drop from underneath
