       A nickle would have been a pretty hefty deposit back in 1939.
I remember .02 cent deposit all through the 1950's. So comparing
today's soda machines it would be like paying a dollar for a soda
and another dollar to make sure you brought the container back.
       Had they used a penny mech. the machine may have made it
into production.
